Avocet Ward, Refurbishment

Avocet Ward at Saffron Walden Community Hospital was completely refurbished during 2008. AKDP were appointed as Lead and Architectural Consultant. The Contract Value was £775,000.00 and included the complete strip out and demolition of internal non load bearing structure, the reconstruction of internal walls, provision of en-suite bedrooms and new drainage system beneath the existing ground floor slab.

The refurbished ward was designed in accordance with the requirements of the elderly respite patient user group with all requisite facilities including patient bed to bathroom transfer hoisting and patient to staff emergency call system provided. The thermal insulation of the existing building fabric was improved with new wall and ceiling void insulation and new double glazed windows.

AK Design Partnership successfully obtained all Planning Consents and Building Regulation Approvals.
